Combinations and Permutations
A permutation is an arrangement, a list of all possible permutations of things is a list of all possible arrangements of the things.
A list of all permutations of the letter ABC is
ABC
ACB
BAC
BCA
CAB
CBA
Permutations are about ordering. Combinations are just unordered groupings. All of the above permutations of of ABC are the same combination. There are 6 ways to permute the letter combination ABC.
